Program Overview

Financial Managers are trusted decision-makers. They research and analyze companies and effectively communicate with clients. You’ll learn about risk and return, portfolio evaluation, securities terminology, market operations, financial planning, the psychology of investing, insurance basics, and sales techniques. Our program incorporates the nationally recognized Canadian Securities Institute curriculum and offers real work experience. This is an education you can literally take to the bank.

Duration

The requirements for this diploma program may be achieved within two academic years of full-time study.

Admission Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Adult High School Diploma or GED Diploma of High School Equivalency
  • Language requirements: IELTS 6.0 or no lower that 5.5 in each band, or an equivalent English test, or
  • Lower than IELTS 6.0 can still qualify by first attending the McKenzie College EAP or UNB EAP English pathway programs.

Career Possibilities

Graduates of the Business Administration: Financial Management program have a wide range of skills that can be valuable in much of the financial sector. Career possibilities include employment as financial managers; insurance, real estate and brokerage managers; banking, credit and investment managers; financial and investment analysts, and securities agents. You may also use this diploma to gain admission to the third year of bachelor degree programs at several universities.

Specific Considerations

The Business Administration: Financial Management program will prepare you to write the Canadian Securities Course Examination or the Canadian Investment Funds Exam. Graduates of the two-year Business Administration program who have achieved a minimum of a 70% average each program year may be able to transfer into the third year of a four-year degree program at Cape Breton University (CBU), Crandall University (formerly ABU) or the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ). NBCC is committed to furthering our university relationships; therefore, other university agreements may be available.

Tuition and Fees:

NBCC yearly tuition: $​9,282.00​​​​ CAD *

McKenzie College tuition per semester: $3,750 CAD *

TSC Immigration Services Registration Process

Option A (low English): Application process for McKenzie EAP + NBCC (lower than IELTS 6)

  1. Review Program with TSC Immigration Services agent
  2. Apply for McKenzie English assessment (free)
  3. Receive results from Mackenzie (determining how long you will study English)
  4. Pay TSC application support fee ($600 CAD) non-refundable
  5. Apply for NBCC program (pay NBCC application fee $100 CAD) - non-refundable
  6. Apply for McKenzie program (pay $200 CAD application fee) - non-refundable
  7. Receive conditional acceptance from NBCC & McKenzie
  8. Pay tuition fees for first semester for McKenzie & NBCC (NBCC Tuition + McKenzie Tuition) - refundable
  9. Apply for study permit and visa (pay $150 visa fee to TSC) - non-refundable

Total application fee: $1,050 CAD

Option B: Application process for NBCC - IELTS 6

  1. Review Program with TSC Immigration Services agent
  2. Pay TSC application support fee ($600 CAD) non-refundable
  3. Apply for NBCC program (pay NBCC application fee $100 CAD) - non-refundable
  4. Receive conditional acceptance from NBCC
  5. Pay tuition fees for first semester for NBCC (NBCC Tuition) - refundable
  6. Apply for study permit and visa (pay $150 visa fee to TSC) - non-refundable

Total application fee: $850 CAD
